About

Charles Yarnoff has been on the Writing Program faculty since 1979 and has taught Design Thinking and Communication (DTC) since it began. In addition, he has served on the core planning committee of DTC for several years. He is also the lead writer of the DTC textbook. 

Yarnoff has been a Weinberg freshman adviser since 2000, and is the academic director of the Summer Academic Workshop, a pre-orientation writing seminar for freshmen. He is also co-chair of the Writing Program’s Freshman Seminar Committee. The committee provides a wide array of teaching resources to freshman seminar faculty through quarterly meetings and through NuWrite, Northwestern’s online writing community.

Yarnoff also teaches writing workshops for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows applying for fellowships through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
