In the Box or Out of the Box?
Ozge will present selected analog and digital interactive comics projects from her portfolio. She will introduce her online daily comic-collage journal, a pursuit that has continued for six years and grown into an autobiographical graphic novel, Dare to Disappoint under contract with Farrar Straux and Giroux. Ozge will also present her full-body interactive comics, site-specific comics, and interactive comics installations.
In the digital era, the comics medium has been transported from print to computer screen, and thus its evolution takes place in digital performances based on full-body interaction technologies. The major implication of this process is that the conventions of comics will be merging with those of performance, film, and animation. As a result of this merger digital interactive comics have new and unexplored meaning making opportunities. These underdeveloped areas make an exciting invitation to the digital media artists to push the boundaries of the medium.
