During their junior year, interested students should submit the Intent to Pursue form, indicating their desire to enroll in the Segal Design Certificate program.
At least two weeks before their final quarter at Northwestern, certificate students must submit a completed Petition to Receive form.
Portfolio presentations are typically scheduled as part of students’ final deliverable for the DSGN 370 course at a Segal Design Expo.

The certificate is highly customizable, and we advise students on an individual basis.
It is generally recommended that students take the portfolio class during fall quarter of their senior year, so they can use their portfolio for job interviews later that year.
